I wrote an article titled Universal Basic Income- A Step Toward Basic International Rights, published in the January 2019 edition of NW Lawyer, the magazine of the Washington State Bar Association. In my discussion of Universal Basic Income (UBI), I argue that it must be part of a policy approach that respects, protects and fulfills human rights, particularly the social and economic rights that provide individuals with an economically secure and dignified life. UBI has to be viewed in relation to labor rights and the right to an adequate standard of living, which includes rights to health care and housing. UBI is no substitute for those closely interdependent rights of health care and housing, although it may be a component of the right to an adequate standard of living.  Read it here…
